Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Featuring a brand new adventure filled with numerous enhancements and innovations, this long-awaited sequel to Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow greatly improves upon the series' winning formula, making for an even more insanely addictive and wholly absorbing gaming experience.

Like Pokémon Silver, which is essentially the same story with minor gameplay variations, Pokémon Gold casts players in the familiar role of a young Pokémon Trainer who is out to collect as many different kinds of Pokémon as possible. As in previous games, gameplay consists mostly of exploration (completing various quests in the process) and Pokémon battles, which employ a unique battle-system that's like a complex twist on rock-paper-scissors.

But despite the similarities, it's quite apparent that Pokémon Gold is a whole new ball game from the start. The game is played out in real time, with the current time and day-of-the-week (recorded by an internal clock) having a direct impact on gameplay elements, such as what Pokémon you will find in the wild, and when certain events occur and characters appear.

While there are simply too many new and improved features in Pokémon Gold to list here, among the highlights are 100 new Pokémon (including two new types), new evolution processes (including breeding) and a more streamlined game interface with better-organized menus and button shortcuts.

Although it's easier to progress in Pokémon Gold than the previous games, the sheer amount of fun and game time involved is daunting. You would be really hard-pressed to find a better value game than this. --Joe Hon

Product Description

This popular series continues to add new innovations and features with each release. The object of Pokémon Gold is still to become the "World's Greatest Pokémon Master" by capturing, training and battling different creatures, this time with all-new creatures and moves.

Also, elements such as day-and-night gameplay and the ability to breed and mutate Pokémon add an exciting new dimension to the game.

You will be able to transfer Pokémon from the Red, Blue and Yellow editions--even train them for new tricks--but you won't be able to transfer your newly caught creatures to any previously released games. Also, expect special, limited-edition gold and silver Game Boy Colour units decorated with Pokémon characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars POKEMON GOLD VERSION, 29 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Pokemon Gold is extremly brilliant game and will keep Poke-nuts hooked for hours! It has a lot more tasks and qualitys than Red, Blue and Yellow versions. The gameplay is excellent, the graphics are much better, there lots more exciting Pokemon to catch, there new trainers and gym learders to fight, eight new badges to collect and with the ability to breed Pokemon, it seems that Pokemon Gold is not a kids game! I recommend this game to all Pokemon fans. With Pokemon Gold's entertaining qualities, I can't to play Pokemon Crystal Version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pokemon GOLD, it deserves the name!, 8 April 2001
By A Customer
Pokemon Gold is probaly the best game ever made for a hand held console. It introduces an extra 100 pokemon to train and fight.

The world is so big that you can go anywhere and it feels like a new place everytime. On Red and Blue you could complete it in 10-15 hours but this game will take 3 times as long.

It also has a radio and a mobile phone so people can give info. Pure brilliance!

Forget any other game buy this. You will not be dissapointed.
